Janice Ralphan Patterson-Brown was born to Ralph Bentley and Mary Elizabeth Patterson-Brown on December 19, 1950 in Kansas City, MO. Mrs. Janice Capps Brown, age 70, of Burlington, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Duke University Medical Center after several months of failing health. Both of her children went on to obtain Bachelor’s degrees in Communications {Television & Video Production and Public Relations} from the University of Missouri-Columbia and Missouri Western State University respectively. A huge part of her returning to graduate school was to show her children that academic success was possible even 30-plus years past completion of undergraduate education. Barnes passed on July 11, 2011 at age 82. Her deep interest in reading and history took her to Lincoln University of Missouri in Jefferson City where she obtained a BA and Lifetime Certification in Education (K-9). Following college, she worked as Executive Secretary to the Director of Martin Luther King Hospital.
